About this Portfolio
Hello there visitors! My name is Lauren Marks and this web page expresses my dedicated work throughout the course of English Composition 1102 at the University of Central Florida. In my portfolio you will detect my personal reflection, discussion posts, four major projects, peer reviews and drafts, which when combined, all depict my progress throughout the class. The work that is displayed is in chronological order as it was completed during the semester.
Although I love English, I was dreading this class because I thought it would be a lot of grammar lessons and busy work, but I was gladly mistaken. Professor Wolcott was an excellent teacher who made the class interesting and enjoyable. Although her assignments followed a rubric and certain expectations, I took pleasure in writing about my interests and opinions. I am more knowledgeable in literature and have become an improved developed writer. I can distinguish between genres, clearly develop a research gap and characterize a discourse community. After completing all of the assignments, I can honestly say I learned an exceeding amount of literature and plan to utilize the information in future opportunities.
Grade Breakdown:
“Discourse Communities” Journal - 2/2
“Generalizing about Genre” Journal - 2/2
“Framing” Journal - 2/2
Literacy Narrative - 90/100
Genre Analysis - 84/100
Annotated Bibliography - 96/100
Literature Review & Project Proposal - 95/100
